Pilton Academicals 3 – Sidmouth Town Res 6

Devon Senior Cup Saturday 7th October 2017

Arriving late in Barnstaple , due to players not being organised wasn’t the best preparation for this Devon Cup tie played on Boca Seniors pitch, however the journey didn’t affect the fast start made by the visitors an own goal after two minutes was followed by a good team move finished on the volly by Ben Miller to make it 2-0, unfortunately the team and management were guilty of complacency as an easy game was anticipated. Pilton had other ideas and swiftly got back on level terms to embarrass the Vikings. Slowly realising that this was no stroll in the park Town got back to basics and took the lead through Kyle Blair.

HT 2-3

The second half saw a much more dominant display from the visitors and Ferenc Bodor added his name to the score sheet outpacing the Pilton defence and prodding in at the near post Scott Hughes tapped in after a great run and cross by Bodor and Will Jenkins headed a sixth. Sandwiched in between was another home strike.

Through to the next round is pleasing for all tougher tests to come I’m sure.

Dawlish away is up next for the Vikings.
