Sidmouth Town 3 – Navy Inn 4

Throgmorton Devon Premier Cup Round 2 Saturday 7th October 2017

In a game of two halves, The Navy Inn rode their luck in the 1st half as the Vikings should have been out of sight by halftime missing at least four great opportunities.  On the 40th minute Rob Knight scored a terrific header from a Dan Evans cross that gave the Vikings a well-deserved halftime lead.

Halftime 1-0

The visitors completely tore up the script in the 2nd half and within 25 minutes of the restart were 3-1 up having capitalised on some woeful Sidmouth defending.  On the 70th minute Ashley Small gave the greens a lifeline tucking home another Dan Evans cross.  Sidmouth were putting the visitors under some serious pressure and looked like they might salvage something, that was un done on the 75th minute when centre back James Clampin hacked his man down for a penalty that was expertly scored. 2-4.  Sidmouth were not done yet and substitute Chris Ibbeson riffed home from 12 yards on the 87th minute.  With no injury time the whistle blew on the 90thminute leaving Sidmouth to reflect on a missed opportunity to progress to the next round.
