Sidmouth Town 4ths 1 – Tedburn Sr Mary 3

Macron D&E League Div 8 Saturday 25th November 2017

Sidmouth Town 4ths tasted defeat for only the second time this season at the hands of a good Tedburn side defying their position in the table.

The young Vikings struggled right from the off up against the strong physical opposition and were quickly behind to the opening goal from the away side. More followed as injuries to two players forced the 4ths manager to change the team in the first ten minutes and then again on 35 minutes as the Vikings shipped two more goals to be faced with a 3-0 score line going into the halftime break.

A halftime team talk was well listened to and the home team started the second half with a belief that they could still pull off an unlikely victory. The young Vikings did win the second half 1-0 which along with keeper Scott Newbury’s man of the match performance were the only positives the manager could take out of the match.

The team talk at the end of the match was difficult but with a hope that lessons were learned, the team can carry on in the way they have played all season.
