Sidmouth Town Res 0 – Perry Street & Yonder Hill 1

Macron D&E League Div 1 Wednesday 2nd May 2018

On Wednesday night The Vikings lost to a side that they beat last time out on. But the result was overshadowed by a bad injury to Ben Farrington midway through the first half.

The Vikings started brightly with Ben Burrows looking sharp on his return to the second team. With a couple of regulars not available Town still managed to put out a competitive squad. Perry Street were scrapping and disrupting the play but Jamie Harvey in goal for Town was rarely troubled in a quiet first half.

The second period saw an even contest with Harvey slightly the busier keeper. The visiting side had the opportunity to open the scoring from the penalty spot but Harvey guessed right to parry the spot kick and then did superbly to block the rebound. However minutes later the only goal of the game from a counter attack that could of been dealt with at source.

All in all a disappointing night. Losing the popular Farrington the way we did wasn’t nice. He’s a club lad who has made himself available for all sides this season and his leadership, quality and banter will be sorely missed on the playing side for the rest of this season.

We wish him a speedy recovery and hope he will be back stronger than ever next season.

Chard home 3 pm Saturday 5 May is the next challenge.
