Sidmouth Town Res 1 – Lapford 1

Macron D&E League Div1 Wednesday 9th April 2018

Town picked up a point in their last home league game of the season. Struggling to field their normal side after four games in seven days the Vikings did well to get something out of the game. Starting brightly Town took the game to Lapford with Aidy Parr and Scott Hughes linking up well, at the other end Ben Clay, Nick Gingell, Reuben Rafaell and Matt Salter were comfortable with the returning Rob Glukowski between the sticks, Parr opened the scoring rifling in a low drive past the helpless visiting keeper. Shortly after a clash of heads involving the Vikings top scorer saw Parr withdrawn at the break.

The second half saw the introduction of Tom Moore and he again linked up well with Hughes who was running on empty. Lapford had a lot of pressure but the defence held out until the dying seconds when a loose ball was steered home at the far post.

The Res have one game left v Cullompton away on Saturday 19th May 3pm ko.
