Teignmouth 2 – Sidmouth Town 2

Carlsberg SWPL Div 1 East Saturday 23rd February 2019

After a disappointing game last week against Alphington with missed chances costing us in the first half we made the trip to Teignmouth hoping for a better performance. The pitch as I thought likely wasn’t up to scratch for a club at this standard, but the lads played some good football and took an early lead after some good work down the left from Fez who found Hancock which he gratefully planted a header past the Teignmouth keeper! Teignmouth tried to play good passing football and caused us a few problems, catching us out of shape which cost us as they scored a fine goal giving Jake in goal no chance. Some casual and sloppy defending put Teignmouth 2-1 up before we made the game all square, Jake pumping a great ball into the area where Hancock rose well to nod down for Jenkins to fire home. All square at the break. Harsh words at half time and a few minor changes saw a fairly even half up until the last 25 minutes in which both teams hit the bar, Ben miller with a thumping volley from the edge of the box beat the keeper but not the crossbar. We then started to dominate as Teignmouth tired, but a lack of composure in front of goal and some food goalkeeping meant a draw was all we could manage.
