Liverton 0 – Sidmouth Town 3

Carlsberg SWPL Div 1 East Saturday 16th March 2019

After a few weeks off and with some unfortunate results of late, a good steady performance is what Kev Tooze and I asked for, and that’s exactly what we got from a hard-working game against a battling Liverton fc who are doing well to survive this campaign in what is clearly a difficult time for them. We chose to play up the slope against a very strong wind in the first half and were made to defend resolutely throughout, a difficult half!. Saying that we had the best opportunities and could have been a couple up but did well enough to keep a clean sheet!

Start of the second half saw an early scare as a long ball caught us out and quick reactions from Jake in goal cleared the danger but unfortunately, he collided with Ben miller in the process, after treatment he got up and was given the all clear. As the game wore on we got stronger and started to dominate, a neat through ball from Ethan slater found Burwood who ghosted past his marker teasing a cross into the path of Ollie Jarrett who rose brilliantly only to see his header cleared off the line but fell straight to Jenkins to slam home. Liverton never really tested our goal second half and chances come and went before Jenkins made it two with another great finish! Harry Taylor came on after a brief spell of injury to calmly feed Jenkins who complete his hat trick and scored our third to the delight of the management trio!!

Fair play to Liverton who kept going and can be proud in the way they conduct themselves.

Man of the match: Will Jenkins

Report Danny Burwood
